Andrew Hogue is VP of AI at Duolingo, responsible for building an AI-first product, team, and brand. He works on features across the learning app and the Duolingo English Test (DET). Previously, Andrew was Director of AI Engineering at Google Workspace where he was responsible for the challenging frontier AI features across the product line, including Docs Help Me Write and Sheets Data Analyst, the Gemini Sidepanel, Workspace's shared GenAI platform, GMail and Drive search, and more. |
Andrew also led engineering at Blue Apron, overseeing the teams building the ecommerce platform, warehouse management systems, and demand forecasting pipeline; and at Foursquare, where he built the Explore recommendations platform and Pilgrim SDK. He started his career working on web search at Google, leading the structured data and information extraction group, working on projects like question answering, sentiment analysis, and Google Squared. |
Prior to Google, Andrew received his Bachelors and Masters degree
from MIT's CSAIL.
His research into pattern
recognition algorithms and interfaces for
the Haystack group was
recognized with the William A. Martin Award for Outstanding Master's
Thesis.
